Flower Substitution Policy

Flowers are a natural, seasonal product. We buy fresh from our wholesalers the morning your order is made, which means what's available — and what's good enough to send — changes week to week. This page explains what that means for your order.

Photographs are a guide

Every arrangement on this site is photographed from a real bouquet we made. Yours will be made by hand from that same recipe, but it will not be identical. Bloom size, openness, tone and stem count vary naturally between batches. Screens also render colour differently — a pink that looks warm on your phone may look cooler in person.

When we substitute

We substitute a flower for two reasons: it isn't available that week, or the stems that arrived aren't up to our standard and we won't send them.

  • Equal or greater value. Any flower we swap in is worth the same or more than the one it replaces. A substitution is never a downgrade.
  • Palette and style come first. We hold the colour scheme, shape and overall feel of the design you chose. A pink gerbera might become a pink ranunculus; it will not become a red rose.
  • Mixed arrangements. Individual flower types may change to keep the palette intact.
  • Single-variety bouquets. For something like a dozen roses, we match the flower type first — colour may vary if that shade is unavailable.
  • Vessels and finishing. Baskets, vases, wraps and ribbons may be substituted for a similar item of equal or greater value.
  • Props aren't included. Anything in a photo that isn't listed in the description — backgrounds, styling props — isn't part of the product.

If the change is significant

For a major substitution we'll try to reach you before we deliver. If we can't reach you in time, we'll make the best call we can and send it on schedule rather than let it arrive late — but tell us at the time of ordering if you'd rather we held it.

Need an exact flower?

If a specific bloom is the whole point — a wedding palette, a flower that meant something to someone — talk to us before you order. Call in or email and we'll tell you honestly what we can get that week. Get in touch →
